Crystals, velvets and rich jewel colours bring a feeling of glamour to our new show home at Eden Park, Rugby, which opens next weekend (Saturday 15 February).
But designers Fiona Nix Ltd stress that the look is practical, achievable and very real.
“We always think about a typical family who could live in that home,” says senior designer Sarah Mather. “Then we design for their everyday lives – if they wouldn’t have an item in their house, why is it there?”
For our Rugby show home, Sarah envisaged a couple in their late 20s or early 30s, possibly teachers or in sales, with a young daughter. “They are very house proud and like spoiling themselves with nice things for their home,” she says.
The colour scheme is mostly neutral but with accents of rich teal and emerald – “colours that make you feel happy”. These are complemented by sparkly wallpapers, glittering chandeliers and luxurious furniture, textiles and accessories that feel indulgent but are all bought on the high street.
“Designing show homes is no longer about reflecting the latest design trends, as they can change so quickly. It’s about using colours and accessories that people really love and creating a liveable wow factor,” says Sarah.
“If you can picture yourself walking in, cooking a meal and sitting down to watch the X-Factor, then we have done our job.”
We will have a total 12 new 3 bedroom terraced houses available for shared ownership on the Eden Park development, with prices starting from £45,000 for a 25% share. Check out our Eden Park page to find out more about the properties and see more photos from our stunning show home.
The show home opens Saturday 15 February from 11am to 3pm. Viewings after that date will be by appointment - call 0845 450 3995.
